Do you feel like you don’t have enough time in your week? In today’s episode, I share a pro technique that will help you find the lost time in your week so that you can have more time, take back control of how you’re spending it, and most importantly, spend it on the things that really matter to you!

Grab a pen and notebook and let’s go!

A word of caution. Don’t dismiss this technique just because it’s simple. You have probably heard of it before but if you’re not DOING it, chances are you aren’t spending your time as productively and efficiently as you could.

The technique is called The Time Audit and it has two important phases.

Phase 1: Do a time audit of the week that passed

Phase 2: Discover the gaps and make an intentional change

Are you ready?

PHASE 1: The Time Audit

Step 1: Look at last week’s 120 hours (the 24 hours from Monday through to Friday) and write down EVERYTHING you did with your time. Get really specific. Look at your calendar, write down everything you did, even how many hours you spent sleeping, watching Netflix, scrolling social media…all of it..

Here’s an example of what your time audit might look like:

  • 40 hours sleep

  • 10 hours client calls

  • 7 hours marketing

  • 3 hours networking

  • 5 hours of Social media content creation

  • 10 hours Netflix

  • 3 hours exercise

  • 4 hours making dinner

  • 6 hours kids activities

  • 10 hours homeschooling

  • 2 hours podcast interview

Step 2: Tally up the hours to see how many of your 120 hours you used and whether there is any time unaccounted for.

Did you learn anything so far? Did anything surprise you?

PHASE 2: DISCOVERING AND CLOSING THE GAPS

Deep-dive into how you’re treating your time and discover the gaps by answering the following questions:

  1. Did you have a plan for your time? Did you follow that plan?

  2. How did you show up in the hours? How many of these hours did you spend worrying, overwhelmed etc? Write down what your three dominant emotions were.

  3. Did you achieve the outcomes that matter to you? Did you make progress on your goals?

  4. What stood out for you? What needs to change?

This is an opportunity for you to check in and get real with yourself if you like your answers, amazing! Keep doing what you’re doing! If you discovered that you could improve how you treat the time you have available, then now is the time to step back into your life as the person driving the car and take back the reigns.

Remember, time is your most precious resource, and what you do with it matters.

I have ONE coaching spot opening to start in September. So if you’re ready to take this work deeper then let’s have a chat! You can book a discovery call with me at ilonkaras.com/consultation
